Among the hills that separate Florence from Pisa, San Miniato holds within its historic centre a goldsmith's workshop where every piece of jewellery is born from the hand and the intent of whoever commissions it. Caterina Malvezzi transforms silver, gold and precious stones into objects capable of telling personal stories.
On the goldsmith's bench, torch, fine pliers and skeins of gold wire sit side by side: the tools of a practice Caterina Malvezzi learned in goldsmithing workshops and later refined in her own space in the heart of San Miniato. Sterling silver, gold, bronze and precious stones take shape through traditional techniques — from stone-setting to diamond pavé — reinterpreted with contemporary sensibility.
The workbench is also a place of encounter: the workshop is open to the public, and every creation is born from direct dialogue between Caterina and whoever commissions it. Even the most unusual requests — the quirkiest, as regular clients call them — find a concrete answer within a few hours, made to design or strictly to measure.
Precious stones, enamels and references to the Tuscan landscape — leaves, branches, animals such as the seahorses one client recalls with affection — enter every creation as living material and as a story of identity. No piece is ever repeated: sculptural rings, necklaces, earrings and full sets are all strictly made in-house, each one different from the next.
