The entrance on Piazza del Fico — at the corner of Via della Pace — belongs to a place that needs no flashy sign. Founded roughly a century ago as a latteria, it has moved through the neighbourhood's changing seasons without losing its character. Today it welcomes guests from early morning, while Rome is still waking up, until late into the night, with DJ sets carrying the evening on after dinner.
The dining room extends outdoors, with small tables on Piazza del Fico where the city's pace slows down. Inside, several private rooms — from twenty to a hundred and sixty seats — make the place a point of reference for anyone organising events in the historic centre. In the evening the place comes alive: cocktails, music, an evening that shifts register without changing address.
The kitchen works on Roman tradition without shortcuts: bucatini all'amatriciana, tonnarelli cacio e pepe, rigatoni alla carbonara, carciofo alla giudia (Jewish-style fried artichoke), supplì. The pizzas come out of the wood-fired oven, fragrant and true to the technique. Selected ingredients, sandwiches prepared to order: every detail answers to a deliberate choice, never to convenience.
