produttori — Orbetello · Toscana
Among the hills of the Maremma grossetana, where the red earth slopes down toward the Orbetello lagoon, Azienda Ricci keeps alive a winemaking vocation that dates back to 1880. Four generations of the family have turned the first vineyards into an estate that today spans forty hectares.
The rows stretch between Magliano in Toscana and Fonteblanda, following the shifting shape of a Maremma that is never quite the same from one place to the next: clay and limestone, different exposures, microclimates that change within a few kilometres. Forty hectares of vineyards spread across this stretch of land are the legacy the Ricci family has worked since the late nineteenth century.
Every season brings its own rhythm to the fields of the Maremma: the winter pruning, the flowering, the harvest that closes the cycle. Four generations have learned to read these signs, to respect the land's own time before the market's. It is this continuity of outlook that defines the estate's character.
From the 2000s onward, the estate took a decisive step: alongside growing grapes, it began vinifying them on its own, with a fully equipped cellar and a tasting room. Wine no longer leaves the property as grapes or must: every bottle is born, matures and is presented within the same family project that has lasted for over a century.
In the cellar at Fonteblanda, among the barrels and the filtered light, the story of the Ricci family is there to be discovered.
