In the Fucino plain, where an ancient lake left behind one of Abruzzo's most fertile lands, Raffaele Alfonso grows vegetables with the continuity of someone who chose to stay. A family enterprise founded in the 1990s and formalized under its current name in 2003, in the heart of the Marsica.
The lands of the Fucino plain stretch out in orderly fashion beneath the profile of the Marsicani Mountains: parallel furrows that return every season, marking the rhythm of sowing and digging. Here the company grows Agria variety potatoes — recognized as a quality product for their texture and yield — following every stage from field to final packaging on site.
The plain also hosts carrots and onions, including the Cipolla d'Oro (golden onion) variety: crops that require deep, well-drained soil, conditions the Fucino offers to a degree rare among Apennine plateaus. At over eight hundred meters, temperature swings help define flavors and textures that the lowlands can hardly replicate, making the plain a recognized agricultural district.
Among the most distinctive productions is the Blue Star purple potato: a variety that demands specific care and reflects a deliberate choice — to broaden the catalogue beyond conventional varieties. Packaging takes place directly on site, closing a supply chain that, from sowing to packaging, cedes control of quality at no intermediate step.
