ristorazione — Arcugnano · Veneto
In the Colli Berici hills, in Arcugnano, an eighteenth-century farmhouse has kept alive, since 1890, the memory of Veneto and Vicenza cooking. Antica Trattoria Moreieta is one of the oldest restaurants in the area: a place that time has refined without ever changing its soul.
Crossing the threshold, the first thing to greet you is an age-old fireplace in Nanto stone: the same stone that shapes the Colli Berici hills, here worked into the frame of a hospitality that has lasted over a century. The building — a former farmhouse with decorated ceilings and a garden, set in the greenery of the Berici hills — was once a destination for Venetian doges holidaying in Palladio's villas.
Inside, the dining room tells the story of five generations of the Costa family: an art of the table handed down unbroken since 1890, with discreet, professional staff always ready to guide guests through the dishes of Vicenza cuisine. The setting is elegant and intimate — decorated ceilings, old-world proportions — and the warm light filtering through the windows invites guests to choose with care and without haste.
The wood fire is the heart of the kitchen: Chef Roberto personally selects the meats — tagliata, fiorentina, entrecôte, lamb loin — and entrusts them to the embers, where direct heat draws out flavours no other method can replicate. The same care governs the choice of ingredients: black truffle from the Colli Berici, late-harvest radicchio from Treviso, Culatello di Zibello DOP, ingredients of the territory handled without mediation.
The creamy risotto with black Berico truffle, the hand-pressed bigoli pasta made in-house, the artisan desserts: every dish is an invitation to discover the full page on Moreieta.
