In the heart of Turin, on Corso Carlo e Nello Rosselli, Barbara Canoci has opened a workshop that does not manufacture objects: it awakens them. Alchimia e polvere (alchemy and dust) — the name is already a manifesto — is a place where matter tells stories of men and women, of passions and of time.
Every piece begins with matter: yarns, fabrics, fragments of things already lived. Barbara Canoci gathers them and listens to them before transforming them, searching in each one for the trace of those who touched it. The craftsmanship follows no catalogue: it follows the material, which suggests its final form through a patient dialogue between imagination and substance.
On the workbench, the process takes the name of alchemy — not as metaphor, but as method. Materials and objects are taken apart, rethought, and returned in forms that did not exist before. Every step is done by hand, every choice unrepeatable: the workshop does not produce series, it produces singularities, and each piece carries within it the memory of the transformation it has undergone.
When light passes through the finished result, it reveals something the original material gave no hint of. This is the alchemical moment: the object stops being mere matter and becomes a story. Every creation by alchimiaepolvere is a one-of-a-kind piece carrying within it the hidden soul of things — stories of men and women, of angels and demons, of passions and of time.
To discover Barbara Canoci's workshop is to enter a universe where every object has already lived, and still has much to say.
