In the heart of the Valle Umbra (Umbrian Valley), halfway between Foligno and Spello, a fifteenth-century tower marks the boundary between open countryside and the region's best-known villages. Torre Quadrana is the fixed point from which everything else comes within reach.
From the wide-open window, the Valle Umbra stretches out toward the silhouettes of Assisi and Spello: two villages four and ten kilometres away, close enough to feel at the centre of things, far enough to leave the quiet undisturbed. Fifteen hectares of farmland surround the property, and the landscape is the same one medieval pilgrims knew by heart.
The rural complex carries in its name and in its stone a fifteenth-century tower, the Quadrana, which has stood watch over the ridge for centuries. Recently restored without losing its character, the building offers seven rooms with private bathroom, air conditioning and open views over the hills: a balance of memory and comfort that is already visible from the flower-lined balcony.
Mornings begin with Stefania's breakfast: homemade cakes, honest ingredients, the slow rhythm of a business run by four hands together with Aldo, Rachele and Michele. The same care shows up at dinner, on request, with dishes made from the farm's own products — including oil and wine — at a price more than one guest has called more than fair.
