In the hills of the Val d'Arda, in the municipality of Alseno, the Bargazzi family has transformed the old Azienda Agricola La Caminà (La Caminà Farm) into a countryside guesthouse where the fields reach into the rooms and the family's own vineyards make their way straight to the table. The window thrown open onto the hills of Piacenza frames a landscape that changes with the seasons: the Val d'Arda stretches out in silence to the horizon, broken only by the estate's vineyards, from which Roberto draws the house wines each year. Castelnuovo Fogliani is a small hamlet, easy to reach yet unassuming, where the sound of cicadas on summer evenings is the only disturbance one should expect.
From the flower-lined balcony, the open spaces of the aia (farmyard) come into view, where the garden is transformed for ceremonies and weddings for up to one hundred and fifty guests across the portico, garden and loggia. The estate works with the Comune di Alseno (Alseno town council) to hold civil ceremonies on site, and reserves the suite for the couple's first night as newlyweds.
Twelve rooms and suites play out the union of old rustic character and contemporary comfort: travertine and oak-wood mosaics sit alongside natural fabrics and full amenities — air conditioning, independent heating, flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi. The kitchen serves traditional dishes from Piacenza made with ingredients from the estate's own production, and those who have stayed here describe a welcome that feels like home.
