Among the Umbrian hills south of Lake Trasimeno, a twelfth-century abbey still holds its ancient stones and frescoes. Sara Sposini and her family opened those doors: today Abbazia dei Sette Frati welcomes guests the way one welcomes them home.
The window opens onto the Umbrian hills, and the silence is centuries old. From the ancient abbey complex, the landscape unfolds without interruption: cloister, garden, horizon. With Sara it is possible to explore the abbey's hidden corners, hear the story of the place, and understand how somewhere so old has come back to life.
The flowering balcony looks out over the same hills the monks watched eight centuries ago. Below, the cloister and garden remain places of genuine pause: guests can pick vegetables in the estate's vegetable garden, walk among the olive trees, and rediscover a rhythm the city has forgotten. Small animals are welcome too.
The rooms still have terracotta floors, wooden beams and original frescoes: the abbey's fabric is still there, intact. In the morning, breakfast brings to the table preserves made with fruit from the estate's orchard, honey produced on site, and extra virgin olive oil from the farm. A morning that tastes of the land, tended with the same care as a family home.
