Pranzo is a celebration of authentic Italian food.

The family-run deli & trattoria is located in the heart of Whitley Bay, offering Italian tapas, pasta, pizza and street food in the restaurant, on the alfresco terrace or as take away.

Open throughout the day and evening, Pranzo works closely with local producers, as well as speciality Italian artisans, to create a menu that can be enjoyed by all of the family. The wine list is sourced directly from Italian vineyards featuring classics such as Vermentino Toscano, Chianti Classico , Aglianico Porconero and Cannonau Dolinova.

Tuscan-born, Pablo, has spent over 20 years in the food and wine industry in Italy and here in the North East. Together with his wife Louise, they have created Pranzo to showcase mouth-watering family recipes using the highest quality ingredients. Pablo and Louise’s vision for Pranzo is to create a casual and friendly space, where authentic Italian cuisine can be enjoyed with family and friends.

Actualmente para dejar a conocer  la verdadera Cocina Italiana hecha por verdaderos Italianos, hemos abierto una Trattoria típica Italiana ubicada en Levittown Ave.Boulevard frente a la Iglesia del Cristo Soberano, adonde podrán degustar unos cuantos verdaderos platos de la gastronomía Italiana. Luego de solo 8 meses hemos ganado el premio de " Restaurante del Año 2014 " segùn la votación del publico en la encuesta " Cebolla & Pimiento " y el premio como mejor Restaurante Italiano según la votación Cebolla & Pimiento y la votación del Publico.

Este Año 2022 hemos ganado el certificado de EXCELENCIA ITALIANA directamente de Italia . mucho trabajo pero muchas satisfacciones, considerando que todo lo que hemos hecho, se hizo  utilizando los mejores ingredientes Italianos  y cosa mas importante el amor per la cocina Italiana, primera en el mundo por cantidad e calidad de platos.

O nome Pinsa provém do termo latim “Pinsere”, que significa “esmagar”.

A história da Pinsa iniciou-se exatamente com as experiências feitas pelas populações de agricultores nos arredores de Roma, que consistia no esmagamento da massa remanescente para criar “focaccia” (um pão tipicamente Italiano).

A receita clássica foi sofrendo alterações ao longo do tempo e hoje trata-se de uma massa de forma oval, criada a partir de um conjunto de farinhas de alta digestibilidade, soja, trigo, arroz. Não contém açúcares, nem conservantes.

A Pinsa Romana é crocante por fora e suave por dentro. Uma explosão de sabor que não sobrecarrega o sistema digestivo. Graças a fermentacao de 48/72 horas e hidratacao de 80%.

Our Head Chef

After undertaking a professional pilgrimage in the 1980’s, head chef Colin Guthrie has immersed himself in the traditions and techniques of the mediterranean nation of Italy.

An enthusiastic student of his craft who learned under the tutelage of Sicilian chefs in Corleone, this all important period of hands-on training was supplemented by spending time in the markets of Palermo and getting a rare glimpse into the homespun methods of the mamma’s and nonna’s whose tried and tested methods have fed generations of families.

Inspired by the teachings of the old country, there is nothing mass-produced about what we do. Everything is cooked to order and as such, patience can often be a virtue as we always strive to deliver the most rewarding and flavourful visit that we can.
