Established in 1987, we are an independent, family run traditional Italian restaurant

based at the start of Compstall Road in Romiley, Stockport. Specialising in rustic Italian

home style cooking, open evenings only - 5pm till 10pm everyday except Monday.

Who is the Italian?

Originally from Naples, owner Ferdinando Mercogliano studied at catering schools in Vico Equense and in the centre of Naples before working across Italy and Switzerland, settling in England in the early 80’s.

Our recipes and the ideology behind everything we do and make come from Ferdinando. Many of the dishes we make here today are made the same way that he learnt from his mother and grandmother. Hailing from a part of Naples famous for its pasta making history, cooking is in the Mercogliano family blood.

Now a grandfather, Ferdinando is based both here in Stockport and in Lucca, Tuscany. Sharing his time between Italy and England means Ferdinando guarantees constant fresh and original menu ideas, using the best local and seasonal ingredients. Trusting the day to day running of the kitchen to a carefully selected fantastic team of chefs.

In charge of the restaurant you will find his eldest son Alessandro. A true typical Italian family business!

Ferdinando's deep passion for Italian cooking is infectious and it has truly passed down in the generations of his family. Our heads, hands and hearts are firmly in the kitchen and we are driven to offer customers good food, value for money and a true taste of Italy.

Now well into our 37th year of trading here in Romiley, we are more passionate than ever for what we do. We have recently expanded, and we now have 8 more tables in a new downstairs area. Complete with another bar, facilities and our usual friendly service.

Our philosophy is simplicity, quality, authenticity and big flavours, in a fun and bustling typical southern Italian environment. With us you will always be guests and never customers. Learning and growing day by day, we are truly humbled by your regular custom.

Puur en onversneden

Authentiek Italiaans tafelen in een ongedwongen sfeer. Dat is La Brasseria da Mauro, in het hartje van Edegem. Kom proeven van het allerbeste dat Zuid-Italië te bieden heeft.

Chef Mauro is afkomstig van Bari (Puglia). Een minder toeristische streek in de hak van de laars, vlak aan de Adriatische zee. Een charmante stad met een rijk maritiem verleden, waar je zulke verse vis kan eten dat hij even goed recht uit de zee op je bord had kunnen springen. In het oude stadscentrum liggen de verse pomodori te blinken in bakken voor de kleine kruidenierszaken, hangen de peperoni in trosjes aan de marktkramen en rollen de mama’s en nonna’s orecchiette (oortjespasta) die ze in de zon laten drogen. Eten is een belangrijke zaak in Zuid-Italië. Zo tonen de Pugliese hun gastvrijheid. Schuif aan tafel bij La Brasseria Da Mauro en proef de Zuiderse zon op je bord.

Mag er voor u misschien wat truffel bij? Eigenhandig meegebracht door de chef uit zijn geboortestreek. Of een succulente zeebaars om compleet bij weg te dromen richting het Middelandse Zeegebied? Misschien nog besluiten met een typisch Italiaans topdessert: een cassata!

La Brasseria Da Mauro ontvangt u heel graag voor een verfijnde smaaksensatie op het vernieuwde Edegemse gemeenteplein, in de schaduw van het voormalige gemeentehuis. Lekker en ongeremd Italiaans tafelen in een op en top charmant Vlaams dorpsdécor.

Dopo un secolo di storia l'innovativo restyling del Ristorante Bar del Fico

Il Bar del Fico nasce esattamente un secolo fa come latteria e somministrazione di bevande.

E’ tuttora considerato uno dei locali di riferimento nel centro di Roma grazie alla sua proposta che accompagna i clienti dalla colazione fino al dopocena, passando per il pranzo e l’aperitivo.

Da Via della Pace si accede presso una corte interna che ospita il Ristorante del Bar del Fico, nel quale è stato effettuato di recente un accurato ed innovativo restyling dove un grande ficus è il cuore di questa “serra cittadina”.

Nell’omonima Piazza del Fico si trova invece un’altra entrata del Bar del Fico, con i tavolini all’aperto come una volta, dove poter fare colazione, degustare a pranzo un menù fresco e moderno, sorseggiare un drink o un cocktail come aperitivo.

Il Bar del Fico dispone inoltre di diverse sale private da 20 a 100 posti dove poter organizzare un evento o festa privata in un posto affascinante, di stile e tendenza.

Storica Bruschetteria da Piero Cula

Aperta nel 1974 da mamma e papà.. i quali, dopo il grande successo della trattoria, decisero di iniziare una nuova avventura dando vita ad una bruschetteria, dislocata in mezzo al bosco, che ora è conosciuta ovunque come Piero Cula…

…dal 1995 la bruschetteria è gestita da me “Paola” assieme a mio marito “Mirko” …quì, si possono trovare, oltre ai famosi fagioli, una vasta scelta di bruschette…. dell’ottimo Goulash.. stinchi…vari primi piatti  ...naturalmente, tutti cibi caserecci e fatti da noi con molta cura e passione..

In estate, i nostri Clienti possono godere di una bella terrazza panoramica dove ci si può rinfrescare nelle calde serate estive, oppure accomodarsi all’interno con circa 80 posti a sedere.
