About Us

Established in 1987, we are an independent, family run traditional Italian restaurant

based at the start of Compstall Road in Romiley, Stockport. Specialising in rustic Italian

home style cooking, open evenings only - 5pm till 10pm everyday except Monday.

Who is the Italian?

Originally from Naples, owner Ferdinando Mercogliano studied at catering schools in Vico Equense and in the centre of Naples before working across Italy and Switzerland, settling in England in the early 80’s.

Our recipes and the ideology behind everything we do and make come from Ferdinando. Many of the dishes we make here today are made the same way that he learnt from his mother and grandmother. Hailing from a part of Naples famous for its pasta making history, cooking is in the Mercogliano family blood.

Now a grandfather, Ferdinando is based both here in Stockport and in Lucca, Tuscany. Sharing his time between Italy and England means Ferdinando guarantees constant fresh and original menu ideas, using the best local and seasonal ingredients. Trusting the day to day running of the kitchen to a carefully selected fantastic team of chefs.

In charge of the restaurant you will find his eldest son Alessandro. A true typical Italian family business!

Ferdinando's deep passion for Italian cooking is infectious and it has truly passed down in the generations of his family. Our heads, hands and hearts are firmly in the kitchen and we are driven to offer customers good food, value for money and a true taste of Italy.

Now well into our 37th year of trading here in Romiley, we are more passionate than ever for what we do. We have recently expanded, and we now have 8 more tables in a new downstairs area. Complete with another bar, facilities and our usual friendly service.

Our philosophy is simplicity, quality, authenticity and big flavours, in a fun and bustling typical southern Italian environment. With us you will always be guests and never customers. Learning and growing day by day, we are truly humbled by your regular custom.

Ich, Domenico Annunziata, sorge gemeinsam mit meinem Team für Ihr leibliches Wohl und verwöhne Sie mit sorgfältig zubereiteten Köstlichkeiten. Hochwertige Zutaten wie Trüffel, Burrata und Büffelmozzarella machen unsere Gerichte zu etwas ganz Besonderem.

Sämtliche Speisen gibt es auch zum Mitnehmen oder werden direkt zu Ihnen nach Hause geliefert.

Freunde von Bowling, Billard und Dart kommen bei uns ebenso voll auf ihre Kosten.

L’azienda agricola Pio Del Prete ha iniziato la sua attività nel 1950 occupandosi di produzione e di distribuzione di aglio, sia fresco che secco e si è consolidata negli anni attraverso l’attività di import-export diventando leader in questo settore e ampliando la sua gamma con altri prodotti come cipolle, scalogni carote e frutta secca. L’alta attenzione posta dall’azienda alla sperimentazione e allo sviluppo ha spinto al lancio di due nuovi prodotti: l’aglio nero e le carote piccole.
 
L’azienda seleziona accuratamente i terreni idonei alla coltivazione delle diverse varietà per ottenere un prodotto dalla qualità eccellente, pronto per essere lavorato con l’impiego di macchinari ad alta tecnologia che consentono la distribuzione del prodotto su larga scala, anche in tempi successivi alla lavorazione, grazie a sistemi di conservazione avanzati, con un servizio di consegna affidabile e puntuale.

Pio Del Prete srl, oltre alla produzione, seleziona e acquista le varietà più pregiate dei prodotti in diverse regioni d’Italia e nei mercati esteri per rispondere alle esigenze dei diversi mercati di riferimento. I prodotti accuratamente selezionati, vengono lavorati e confezionati a seconda dei mercati di riferimento e delle esigenze dei rivenditori.

L’ obiettivo è quella di garantire prodotti di elevata qualità, mantenendo elevatissimi standard di sicurezza alimentare, migliorando continuamente i processi aziendali e stabilendo un rapporto di fiducia con i propri clienti. Inoltre fornisce ai suoi clienti degli espositori realizzati in legno praticissimi per l’esposizione di tutti i prodotti commercializzati, in particolare per i clienti della GDO.

Chi Siamo

Noi di Ms Frankie siamo figlie di immigrati italiani e greci, provenienti da famiglie di contadini, cresciute con l’amore per la cucina e la condivisione. Il nostro ristorante nasce dall’ispirazione della famiglia di Melinda, una delle fondatrici, le cui radici affondano nella Calabria.

Nel 1976, i genitori di Melinda emigrarono dall'Italia in cerca di un futuro migliore, portando con sé tradizioni, ricette e un amore incondizionato per la cucina. Ancora oggi, Mamma Vincenza continua a preparare il pane nel garage di casa, come vuole la tradizione calabrese, riservando la cucina per gli ospiti e le occasioni speciali.

Quel garage non è solo una cucina, ma un luogo di ricordi, aromi e tradizioni tramandate di generazione in generazione. È lì che nasce la magia dei piatti calabresi, con ricette semplici ma straordinarie, preparate sempre con amore.

Who We Are

At Ms Frankie, we are daughters of Italian and Greek immigrants, raised in farming families where food and love were always abundant. Inspired by Melinda’s Calabrian heritage, our restaurant is deeply rooted in the traditions passed down through generations.

In 1976, Melinda’s parents migrated from Calabria, Italy, bringing with them a rich culinary heritage. Even today, Mamma Vincenza bakes her own bread in the garage of the family home—following a true Calabrese tradition. The kitchen is reserved for special guests, while all the magic happens in the garage, where traditional Calabrian sweets and savoury dishes are prepared with love.

For us, that garage is more than just a kitchen—it’s a place filled with memories, aromas, and the warmth of family. The magic created there is simple yet extraordinary, and love is the secret ingredient in every dish.

Our Philosophy

The vision for Ms Frankie is to create a second Mamma’s Garage, right here in Carlton and Cremorne, where old traditions blend seamlessly with Melbourne’s contemporary lifestyle.
