A Passion for Food

Pietro loved cooking from an early age and this led him to have his first experience at age 15, working in a professional kitchen in his hometown of Canosa di Puglia in Southern Italy. Since then, it’s been his passion. But his greatest food memory is of his mother’s Ragu cooking on the stove, the aromas of that rich sauce filled the whole house.

In 2015 Pietro came to Ripon to work at Prima Pizzeria, where he developed his skills and fired his ambition. He started at the bottom and worked his way up very quickly going from Commis to Head Chef in just 3 years. However, in November 2021, an opportunity to fulfil his dream presented itself. After 37 years, the Fantoni family were ready to hand over the reins. Now Pietro and his team are carrying on the tradition of delivering an authentic Italian dining experience in Ripon.

Pietro says “Being a Chef and Restaurateur is the ultimate job for someone who loves food. No two days are the same, trying out new dishes, listening to what your customers say, tweaking recipes and constantly looking to improve. But above all, it’s immensely rewarding and great fun”.

He loves to travel, experiencing new food and all types of restaurants. It’s this along with his Italian heritage which inspires every dish. That passion for food which saw Pietro make the move from Puglia to Yorkshire which is at the heart of what a customer can expect from the kitchen.

That’s why he makes a point of meeting all his local suppliers personally to ensure the quality of their produce. From locally reared meat and poultry to his favourite Brymor Ice Cream, Pietro ensures standards are maintained. Even the wine needs the seal of approval before it goes on the list…!

Put simply, Prima Pizzeria serves great food, in a cosy atmosphere, with the buzz of a busy restaurant which makes booking highly recommended – especially at weekends.

The house “Blackboard Menu” is updated on a regular basis to accommodate for fresh seafood and seasonal game. We have an Early Bird Menu from 4.30pm until 6.30pm and a Children’s Menu is available. Prima Pizzeria also has an extensive Take Away Menu if you want the Prima Experience at home.

Located, only a two-minute walk from either Ripon Market Place or Ripon Cathedral, Prima Pizzeria, is at 33 Kirkgate which is a characterful cobbled street packed with small shops.

il Conte", nasce nel 1982, grazie a laura e Gian Pietro, è lui il famoso Conte, chiamato così per il modo scanzonato di vivere e vestire negli anni '60 (nessuno sospetta che in fondo il Conte per via materna discende dai Benincasa, antica nobile famiglia Orvietana, di cui esiste ancora un palazzo).

Oggi gestita dalle figlie questa trattoria di campagna cerca di compiacere i pala ti di orvietani e non....molti dimostrano il proprio da anni e il "Conte sentitamente ringrazia.....

Our Story

Using his experience as a founding member of a global Italian chain “Fratelli la Bufala® Mimmo decided to move forward with his own brand “Mimmo la Bufala” and now serves some of the best pizza and Italian food in London.

With many awards and nominations over the last 20 years, Mimmo’s restaurant showcases the gastronomic heritage of Naples with critically acclaimed pizzes, pasta, fish and meat dishes. Born in Pozzuoli Napoli and living much of his life in Florence, whatever he is doing Mimmo is always back in time to welcome people to his restaurant to entertain and create an atmosphere, as his passion for food comes only second to his passion for life.

Il cibo trova sempre coloro che amano cucinare

Dopo un’avventura durata più di 10 Anni, Andrea Caracciolo decide di chiudere la sua precedente attività “Antica Osteria da Andrea” per iniziarne una nuova chiamata “Acqua Salata – Beach & Restaurant” nell’estate 2021.

L’attività si divide in due parti. Il ristorante, sotto la supervisione di Andrea e Serena, è aperto tutto l’anno.

Il nostro punto di forza è la cucina tradizionale di pesce rivisitata, proponendo un connubio perfetto tra tradizione e novità.

L’altra componente importante di Acqua Salata, è lo stabilimento balneare, dove poter rilassarsi sotto un ombrellone e coccolarsi con il nostro bar esterno, dove è possibile fare colazioni e aperitivi di ogni tipo

Marecrudo apre le sue porte per la prima volta nel 2017, con l'obbiettivo di divenire un luogo di riferimento nell'ambiente gastronomico milanese. Ad oggi, ha ricevuto svariati riconoscimenti, vanta un'ampia clientela sia italiana che estera e può definirsi un'eccellenza nel firmamento dei ristoranti di pesce meneghini.

Dalle pietanze più nobili, come il Plateau Imperiale di Crudi, che permette di gustare a pieno la freschezza e la naturalezza dei prodotti ittici italiani ed internazionali, a quelle più elaborate, come i piatti di pasta fresca ed i dolci, rigorosamente fatti in casa.  Potrete intraprendere un viaggio unico nel mondo del gusto e degli aromi, spesso perduti, della nostra Ricca Terra.

Ma non sono unicamente le materie prime eccellenti ed i metodi di cottura più tradizionali a caratterizzare Marecrudo. Verrete accolti in una location raffinata ed intima, mentre vi verrà consigliato quali piatti si adattano meglio al vostro palato.
