A Passion for Food

Pietro loved cooking from an early age and this led him to have his first experience at age 15, working in a professional kitchen in his hometown of Canosa di Puglia in Southern Italy. Since then, it’s been his passion. But his greatest food memory is of his mother’s Ragu cooking on the stove, the aromas of that rich sauce filled the whole house.

In 2015 Pietro came to Ripon to work at Prima Pizzeria, where he developed his skills and fired his ambition. He started at the bottom and worked his way up very quickly going from Commis to Head Chef in just 3 years. However, in November 2021, an opportunity to fulfil his dream presented itself. After 37 years, the Fantoni family were ready to hand over the reins. Now Pietro and his team are carrying on the tradition of delivering an authentic Italian dining experience in Ripon.

Pietro says “Being a Chef and Restaurateur is the ultimate job for someone who loves food. No two days are the same, trying out new dishes, listening to what your customers say, tweaking recipes and constantly looking to improve. But above all, it’s immensely rewarding and great fun”.

He loves to travel, experiencing new food and all types of restaurants. It’s this along with his Italian heritage which inspires every dish. That passion for food which saw Pietro make the move from Puglia to Yorkshire which is at the heart of what a customer can expect from the kitchen.

That’s why he makes a point of meeting all his local suppliers personally to ensure the quality of their produce. From locally reared meat and poultry to his favourite Brymor Ice Cream, Pietro ensures standards are maintained. Even the wine needs the seal of approval before it goes on the list…!

Put simply, Prima Pizzeria serves great food, in a cosy atmosphere, with the buzz of a busy restaurant which makes booking highly recommended – especially at weekends.

The house “Blackboard Menu” is updated on a regular basis to accommodate for fresh seafood and seasonal game. We have an Early Bird Menu from 4.30pm until 6.30pm and a Children’s Menu is available. Prima Pizzeria also has an extensive Take Away Menu if you want the Prima Experience at home.

Located, only a two-minute walk from either Ripon Market Place or Ripon Cathedral, Prima Pizzeria, is at 33 Kirkgate which is a characterful cobbled street packed with small shops.

Ingredienti selezionati e cucinati nel rigore della tradizione danno vita ad un menù, che non dimentica i piatti principe della Roma del passato e che fanno della Roma attuale una città dal fascino eterno.

Ispirati dall’amore per la cucina romana, nasce “Ponte Milvio cucina romana Gastronomia”. Un’occasione per noi di diffondere la nostra tradizione, nella città meneghina. Un’occasione per tutti di viaggiare tra i sapori dell’arte culinaria. Un posto perfetto e informale, per ordinare i piatti preferiti o per sperimentare nuove emozioni del palato. Antipasti, primi, secondi e dolci a disposizione per qualsiasi occasione … una pausa pranzo, una cena in famiglia o con amici, uno spuntino al volo, il tutto da gustare nelle quattro mura di casa con l’asporto o il delivery oppure accomodandosi ai tavoli, direttamente fuori dal nostro locale. La cucina a vista permette di assistere alla preparazione dei primi, al momento dell’ordinazione. Un’esperienza nuova per allargare gli orizzonti del sapore, che hanno fatto nel tempo e fanno ancora, la storia del nostro paese.

It is no secret that you are served delicious food among the food stalls on Olavstorget. What not everyone knows yet is that Pastalab was recently awarded Eccellenze Italiane for its uncompromising Italian cuisine.

To receive such an award first and then a few weeks later to receive the invitation to a State Visit, well, it is incredibly difficult to describe in words. We did not expect all this, we just did our job with the utmost integrity and respect for the traditions that have been handed down to us from grandmothers, mothers and teachers.

It is four years since the co-owners of Pastalab, Matteo and Jacopo, moved to Trondheim, and met before for the first time when they both worked for the Fratigruppen at Una Torget. There they quickly discovered that they shared the same idea and passion for real Italian food, and that they both had a desire to start something of their own. Together they began to plan how the dream could materialize into reality.

When the Italian President Sergio Mattarella visited Trondheim with H.K.H. Crown Prince Haakon as host, Matteo and Jacopo were invited to the solemn concert in Nidaros Cathedral, as representatives of parts of the Italian business community in Norway. The following day they received a visit from the Italian vice-consul in Trondheim who presented them with the award Eccellenze Italiane.

Eccellenze Italiane

The award itself is a recognition of the authenticity surrounding the production of Italian dishes, as they are served in Italy according to the classical tradition, respecting the recipes without allowing fusions with local flavors just to increase sales.

You could say that there is a passion for conveying originality and a moral integrity when it comes to the food – no refinements, no use of brand names like “carbonara” without delivering a REAL carbonara.

The remark is not only about food, it is about all art that has a possible connection to Italy under several categories. The office is registered under the Italian Ministry of Economic Development and Economy, and the Office of Registered Patents and Trademarks, with a further upgrade to a European level under the EUIPO.

Real Italian culinary delights in Trondheim

Before Pastalab became a reality, they both worked at well-known and beloved restaurants in Trondheim and Trøndelag. Matteo first started at Strandbaren on Stokkøya before moving on to the Michelin restaurant Credo, while Jacopo has worked for both the Fratigruppen, Olivia and Sellanraa. Now the dream has become a reality, and you will be served award-winning Italian food at Pastalab on Olavstorget in Trondheim.

Amore per la buona cucina e la pizza

Ristorante – pizzeria situato a Cà Savio (Treporti Venezia) nel pieno centro, a 1 Km dalle spiagge.
Rinnovato negli scorsi anni e può contare di circa di circa 100 posti a sedere, in due sale.

Il servizio del nostro team è all’insegna della semplicità, curato e raffinato con un ambiente rustico.

La cucina del ristorante è sobria ed abbondante e conta di vari antipasti, snack e ottimi piatti sia di carne che di pesce.

Le pizze sono il fiore all’occhiello: abbiamo fatto degli ingredienti e della fantasia i nostri punti di forza.

La tradizione è il punto forte di questa trattoria adagiata sulle colline di Malcesine, dal quale potrete ammirare una vista mozzafiato del lago di Garda e del verde che lo circonda!

Il piatto forte della casa è il coniglio con la polenta preparato in ugual modo da 60 anni a questa parte!! Ma non tralasciate nemmeno le paste fresche fatte in casa condite con il tartufo del baldo o con il ragù di selvaggina, i taglieri, gli antipasti con il baccalà e i dolci, tutto rigorosamente di casalinga fattura!

Cantina vini molto interessante e per tutte le tasche, dai vini più semplici alle eccellenze più complesse per veri intenditori, tutte conservate a temperatura controllata!
