“L’italiano vero”: a Neapolitan heart on the other side of the Alps

“Lasciatemi cantare
Perché ne sono fiero
Sono l’italiano
L’italiano vero”

That’s what Toto Cutugno used to sing in his most famous song, “L’italiano”. In some cases, however, replacing “sing” with “cook” wouldn’t be wrong at all: Italians are well-known all over the world for the delicious dishes they make. Antonio Rega must feel this way too. He’s the owner of “L’italiano vero”, a restaurant in Lyon which lets its customers experience what “eating the Italian way” really means.

We talked with Antonio and asked him some questions.

Pizza, Pasta e Basta: an Italian in northern Spain

Logroño, capital city of the production of the famous Spanish wine Rioja and from 2012 also culinary capital of the country. What better place to open an Italian restaurant?
Ferdinando Battista, from Naples but “adopted” by Spain since 1990, has chosen Logroño to open its Trattoria Pizza, Pasta e Basta in the heart of the old town. His dream: to spread the love for Italian flavours.
We’ve decided to ask him a few questions to discover a little more about it…

Fields of an intense green, overlooking golden sandy beaches which end into a blue sea. A typical coastal view in County Wexford, South-eastern Ireland. Imagine that you have just witnessed a beautiful sunset from Wexford lighthouse: a triumph of orange and pink tones that plunge into the ocean. It’s five o’clock and it has started getting chilly since the sun has gone, the biting Irish wind is blowing and your stomach growls lightly. After days of local food, you are craving some delicious Italian food. What can you do now?
