Paolo Donà, pipe organs and harmoniums
On July 1997, Mr. Paolo Dona’ graduated in Organ studies at “Giuseppe Verdi” conservatory of Turin. His passion for this beautiful and unconventional instrument led the way to his future career: he started working for a business of pipe organs restoration, a crucial experience to turn into practice his studies and to develop his skills. This experience is what allowed him to become a freelancer.
In 2006 started the independent business “Paolo Dona’- Costruzione e Restauro di Organi a Canne“: in Alice Castello, in the province of Vercelli, Mr. Dona’ restores and realizes pipe organs mainly for parishes and churches. Knowing very well the three different transmission systems used in pipe organs – pneumatic, mechanic and electric – he restores the instruments with care, professionalism and attention, sticking to the client’s idea and, more important, the original characteristics of the organ, which undergo illegitimate alterations from time and men.
“Paolo Dona” always works in a professional way: to do so, he addresses to the Ministerial Superintendence for the Cultural Goods of Piemonte, which examines, approves, registers and authorizes Paolo Dona’s quotes.
Paolo Dona’ also deals with harmoniums: this instrument is slightly smaller than a pipe organ and it is a household instrument. This does not change Mr. Dona’s working ethics: the costumer’s idea is respected and the instrument is preserved from deterioration and damage.
